Role: Assistant Curator
My role in these projects consisted of more than logistics ie: curation. I was responsible for the administrative and creative processes. I held various positions from budgeting to concept development, marketing strategy e.t.c.
Umuzi Experiences is a platform that makes the experience of creating, engaging with, buying and selling art more accessible in South Africa. We strive to open up the community to drive social dialogue and promote cultural exchange by being apart of art initiatives such as First Thursday.
RISE: The People First aims to motivate South African youth to participate in our political narrative. It celebrates
those activists who contribute towards a more equal society while challenging apathy and ignorance in our youth.
Mowa’s choice of mixed media in his use of collage mirrors the diversity found on today’s political landscape.
He collaborates with photographers George Kambwiri & Nonkululeko Chabalala to include contemporary images taken at #FEESMUSTFALL and other protests. This element of realism makes Mowa’s work more relatable, furthering
his agenda to bridge the gap between a passive youth and South African politics.

COMBOS: Andile is a fashion photographer who spends his time between Cape Town and Joburg, shooting commercial - and editorial work. This lifestyle has allowed him to document contemporary, urban street fashion in South Africa’s two major creative hubs.
His most recent body of work, COMBOS, includes some of his friends from various backgrounds. Because of the rich diversity in Andile’s network, the series captures an accurate portrait of South African street fashion, today.

CURATION: WOKEKAAP EXPERIENCES
ROLE: My role in this event series is to find Cape Towns upcoming visual artists and curate their work in a space. This space also includes live performances by upcoming artists who are too given the platform.
WOKEKAAP: We are Original Kreatif Enlightened, a conscious collaborative creative art movement.
Wokekaap is a conscious gathering that aims to create access for Cape Towns young upcoming artists by giving them a platform to showcase their work. By this we raise the standard of local art.
A LAND BEFORE TIME: The beginning on what could be the beautiful partnership between Raptor Room and the online art community of Cape Town, Poets, Musicians and Visual Artists coming together to make their contribution to the Art Renaissance of our region and time
